In the development of future, integrated broadband networks, the design above all of the switching networks and their controllers is of particular importance. To prevent the occurrence of log jams in the switching network, a range of different measures or combinations thereof are implemented. These are essentially as follows: - The transmission speed of the switching network is increased through structural modification. - The switching network is multiplied. - The input buffers are re-organised. - The allocation strategy is changed.
