Electrical interconnection assembly: process and apparatus for wiring the assembly

An electrical interconnection assembly comprises an insulating support body (1) and a plurality of wire-receiving terminals (3) each of which has a wire receiving slot (5). Insulated wire (14) is selectively received in the slots (5) and cut into a plurality of wire pieces (15) to form a predetermined wiring pattern. Wire holding bosses (8, 9) on the body (1) hold the wire pieces in the predetermined wiring pattern. Apparatus for wiring the assembly comprises a wire laying unit B having a wire laying pallet assembly (17) on which wire from reel (36) is arranged using X-Y feeder F1. Insulating bodies (1) are forced onto the pallet (17) at a press ram (39), having been fed by supplying hand (43). Wire is forced onto terminals by press (55) and cut as required by cutting station A. Pins (84) of the pallet assembly may be mounted for individual movement (fig 10).
