PURPOSE:To detect quickly radioactive rays while giving high accuracy and the speedy responsiveness to the change of a radioactive concentration by leading a measured sample to an outside measuring vessel arranged so as to wrap in the inside measuring vessel provided with a radiation detector. CONSTITUTION:A measured sample introduced from an inlet nozzle flows first into an inside measuring vessel 4a from the bottom, moves upward along the circumference near to a radiation detector 1 and flows in an outside measuring vessel 4b from the upside open end of this vessel 4a. The measured sample flows out through an outlet nozzle 6 after temporarily stored in the vessel 4b. The radioactive rays transmitted from the sample in the vessel 4a make incidence into the radiation detector 1 to be detected by it first, at the time when the sample flows into the vessel 4a where the radioactive substance is contained in the measured sample. Then, the radioactive rays emitted from the measured sample pass through the vessel 4a made of low density material, make incidence into the detector 1 and are detected at the stage when the sample flows into the vessel 4b.
