<p>PURPOSE:To improve picture quality while converting the resolution of the picture on an oblique line properly by deciding the color of noted picture ele ment after resolution conversion while containing the picture signal with high resolution after the resolution conversion in a reference picture element. CONSTITUTION:When a noted picture element X with standard resolution is converted into two picture elements X1 and X2, the picture element after the conversion into the high resolution is utilized as picture elements A, B, and C before one line from among picture elements adjacent to the noted picture element X. The picture element with standard resolution is utilized for a picture element D just before the noted picture element X, picture element E just after the X, and the picture elements F, G, and H of the next line to the noted picture element X. In this case, according to the color relation between the noted picture element X and the adjacent picture elements A, B, C, D, E, F, G, and H, the colors of respective picture elements X1 and X2 are set. Thus, the resolution conversion of the picture on the oblique line part can be properly performed, and the picture quality can be improved.</p> |
