<p>The invention relates to a method for charging an accumulator in which the charging current I, the voltage U across the terminals of the accumulator and the charging time t are measured continuously, and the total charge Ah which must be applied to the accumulator starting from detection and according to the maximum absolute detected value of the general slope Pm of the curve U(t) is calculated, and charging of the accumulator is halted when the applied charge Ah(t) reaches the calculated value of the total charge Ah.
