<p>A display device for a vehicle in which an image displayed on a display unit to indicate driving data such as traveling data is reflected by a first reflecting plate towards the driver's seat to allow the driver to observe the image as a virtual image, in which the vertical dimension is decreased for miniaturization, and the display unit cannot be seen from the driver's seat (or the view point), whereby the display image is improved in quality. In a display device for a vehicle, a prism having first and second surfaces. First surface is arranged between a display unit and a first reflecting plate in such a manner that the first surface is confronted with the display screen of the display unit, and the second surfaceis confronted with the first reflecting plate, to allow the display light emitted towards the first surface to advance towards the first reflecting plate, the first and second surfaces forming an angle theta therebetween so that light applied to the second surface from the side of the driver's seat is totally reflected by the first surface, and the remaining surfaces, such as for instance a third surface, of the prism are blackened. <IMAGE></p> |
