[Also in Division F2V] The invention relates to a pressurizing and drain valve for a fuel supply system of a gas turbine engine. In Fig. 1 fuel from the reservoir 11 is supplied by pump 13 to the fuel control unit 14, and fuel may pass from the control unit through line 15 to the pressurizing and drain valve 16 thence through line 17 to the engine combustion equipment 22. A fuel reference pressure is communicated through line 18 from the control unit 14 to the valve 16. When the engine is shut down the fuel line 17 is placed in communication with the drain line 19 through the valve 16. The valve 16 comprises a casing 25 having an internal chamber 26, also a fuel inlet port 28, a fuel outlet port 29, a drain port 30 and an opening 31 which is closed by an end cover 37 bolted to the casing. The end cover 37 is provided with an inlet port 56 through which the reference pressure is communicated. A cylindrical sleeve 34 is secured within the chamber 26 by means of the end cover 37, the sleeve being formed with three sets of ports 42, 43 and 45 and forming with the chamber 26 two annular passages 26 and 54 the first passage 26 being in communication with the fuel outlet 29, and the second passage 54 with the fuel drain 30. A cup-shaped valve member 47 is disposed within the sleeve 34 and provides therewith a third annular passage 53, the valve member being biased to the left by means of a spring so that the valve member bears against a ring member 34b secured within the end of the sleeve 34. In the first position of the valve shown in Fig. 1 the valve member 47 is closing off the ports 42 in the sleeve 34 so that no fuel can pass from the inlet 28 to the outlet 29. The combustion system is however connected to drain by way of line 17, connection 29, annular passage 26, ports 43, annular passage 53, ports 45, annular passage 54 and drain connection 30. In a second position of the valve, Fig. 2, (not shown), the valve member 47 has moved slightly to the right by increased pressure of fuel acting on the end face 47a of the valve member, so that the valve member 47 now covers both the ports 42 and the ports 43 so that in this position no fuel flows to line 17 and no fuel can pass from line 17 to drain. In a third position of the valve, Fig. 3, (not shown), the valve member 47 has moved further to the right so that the ports 42 are now open but the ports 43 are still closed so that fuel now passes from inlet line 15 to the outlet line 17 to the engine combustion equipment. The connection of the reference pressure line 18 to the internal chamber 52a is by way of a restricted orifice 58 and filter 59.</p>
