PURPOSE:To temporarily form an image by synthesizing picture data of one changed in the density of a color at fault of the other with the other color, when either an exposing means or a developing means is faulty, and forming an image with pseudo simultaneous two-color, when one of them is at fault. CONSTITUTION:When a fault detecting means detects the fault of the exposing means, or a failure detecting means detects failure in the developing means, the density of the picture data of the color of one corresponding to the exposing means or the fault detecting means, whose fault or failure is detected, is changed to a half density, for instance, the detected picture data of the color of the one and the picture data of the color of the others are synthesized, and the image that monochrome color has a variable density is formed by using the exposing means or the developing means corresponding to the color of the other. Therefore, even if one of two exposing means and the developing means has the fault or failure, the simultaneous two-color image is temporarily expressed by the variable density image of the monochrome color and the identification of two-colors can be carried out. |
