The invention relates to a vacuum powered anti-skid control valve arrangement of the kind which shuts off hydraulic pressure to the rear brakes and increases the brake pipe volume to reduce brake pressure. As shown deceleration detector 26 may detect difference in signals from A.C. tachogenerators 28, and energize magnet valve 48 to let in atmosphere to side 50 of diaphragm 42 and shutoff conduit 56 connecting to the back of the diaphragm and vacuum via pipe 52. As the diaphragm moves left, hydraulic brake pressure causes piston 46 to follow, first allowing check valve 76 to shut and then increasing volume of the brake circuit. When the solenoid is de-energized (as the wheel speed increases) diaphragm 42 and piston 46 are returned by spring 128. The end of the return stroke is slowed by throttle valve 165, carried by the diaphragm, engaging a fixed plate to close the opening 164 and force air through bleed hole 170, and this together with bleed valve 100 incorporated in check valve 76, allows a slow increase in brake pressure. |
