PRODUCTION OF PEROXIDASE

PURPOSE:To profitably produce a peroxidase having a high purity and a specific quality without being affected by the conditions such as weather by culturing the shoot apex or tissue piece of a plant belonging to the genus Armoracia rusticana. CONSTITUTION:The shoot apex of a plant belonging to the genus Armoracia rusticana is separated and subsequently rotation-cultured under the irradiation of light in a nutrient medium comprising an inorganic basic medium such as Linsmair-Skoop medium mixed with a plant growth hormone such as an auxin or cytokinin and with a carbon source such as sucrose. A highly growing primordium among seedling row primordiums (dome-like tissues generated before the adventitious bud is formed by the culture) obtained by the primary culture of the shoot apex is subjected to a subculture under the same conditions. The prepared seedling row primordiums are homogenized in a proper volume of water and filtered through a filtering cloth. The filtrate is salted out and purified to obtain a purified peroxidase, thereby permitting to produce the highly pure peroxidase in a high yield by the industrial process.
