The sheet part-stacks are formed into a complete stack by a stacker which has a horizontally movable table (13) for the part-stacks, and a clamping tong set (7) for the edge of a part-stack. The set has clamping tongs (9-14), each with an upper and a lower section (13,10), and a vertical stop face (21,22) for the part-stack edge. The lower tong section is vertically movable, and has a lower clamping jaw (14), which is horizontally movable w.r.t. the lower tong section and the stop face. The clamping jaw may be retracted completely to the side of the stop face, away from the table. USE/ADVANTAGE - For cut paper sheets etc. with irregular sheet stacking.
