发明名称 PRODUCTION OF HIGHER FATTY ACID MONOGLYCERIDE
摘要 PURPOSE:To produce the title colorless and odorless substance of high purity in high yield at a low temperature under ordinary pressure by reacting a higher fatty acid with glycidol in the presence of K2CO3, Na2CO3, potassium acetate, sodium acetate, etc., as a catalyst. CONSTITUTION:A catalyst (e.g. K2O3, Na2CO3, potassium acetate or sodium acetate) in a molar amount of 0.01-0.05 based on a higher fatty acid (e.g. isostearic acid or 2-ethylhexanoic acid) is added thereto. The resultant mixture is then preheated at 50-60 deg.C and vigorously stirred to sufficiently disperse and dissolve the catalyst. Nitrogen gas is simultaneously blown into the liquid and glycidol is fed to continue the reaction at 70-110 deg.C until the higher fatty acid nearly disappears. Thereby, the title substance is produced. The catalyst is not only available at a low cost without toxicity and can be readily separated and removed, but no problem of corrosiveness is caused under the aforementioned reaction conditions. Stainless steel is sufficiently used as the material of apparatuses. The title substance is useful as an emulsifying agent or a humectant for cosmetics, etc.
