摘要 PURPOSE:To secure easy starting at the time of restart by detecting the remaining quantity of fuel inside a fuel tank, and when it is detected that the remaining fuel is few, by forbidding the discharge of fuel from a high-pressure pump and stopping the injection of fuel, so that the formation of bubbles in a reservoir tank can be prevented. CONSTITUTION:A reservoir tank 16 to which a fuel tank 18 is connected via a low-pressure pump 20 and a high-pressure pump 22 is connected to the fuel injectors 14 of respective cylinders via respective fuel passages 30 for supplying fuel, and as the fuel injector 14, that in which a piezoelectric element is used for carrying out dispersive injection of fuel during one stroke of each cylinder is used. And the fuel injectors 14 and a high-pressure pump 22 are operated and controlled by a control circuit 120 in response to the engine-operating- condition signals from respective sensors; in this control, the remaining quantity of fuel in the fuel tank 18 is detected by the outlet pressure of the low-pressure pump 20 being measured by a pressure sensor 126, and when the remaining quantity of fuel becomes few, a warning lamp 131 is lit, and also the operation of the high-pressure pump 22 is forbidden.
