The agent for preparing baths to wash non-ferrous metal surfaces, especially copper, aluminum, magnesium and brass alloys based on non-ionic surfactants, consisting in that it contains from 30 to 40 parts by weight of paraffin of the fraction of from 190 degrees C to 305 degrees C with sulphur content from 0.05% to 0.15% and acidity in mg KOH per 100 ml from 0.2 to 0.6, from 15 to 25 parts by weight of machine oil with kinematic viscosity at the temperature of 40 degrees C from 6 to 7.5 mm<2>/sec. and flow temperature from -25 degrees C to -10 degrees C, from 20 to 30 parts by weight of a mixture containing 20-45% by weight of fatty acids of the fraction C12-C18, 15-40% by weight of ethanol amines and 20-65% by weight of the products of adding alkyl oxides to alkylphenol, the density of that mixture of three components at temperature of 30 degrees C being about 1.025 to 1.045 g/cm<3>, from 15 to 20 parts by weight of the product of copolymerisation of 14 moles of propylene oxide and 8 moles of ethylene oxide to alkylphenol with the cloud point of the 1% aqueous solution from 20 degrees C to 22 degrees C from 5 to 10 parts by weight of the product of attaching 3 molecules of ethylene oxide to oleic alcohol with iodine number amounting to from 54 to 64g J2 per 100g or from 5 to 10 parts by weight of the product of attaching four molecules of ethylene oxide to nonylphenol.
