PURPOSE:To provide the title composition suitable as, in particular, a feeding or therapeutic agent for patients with hepatopathy such as acute or chronic hepatic insufficiency, comprising a specific nitrogen-contg. compound and lactosucrose. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition comprising (A) a nitrogen-contg. compound >=7 (pref. >=10) in the molar ratio: branched chain amino acid (BCAA)/aromatic amino acid (AAA) and (B) lactosucrose at the weight ratio of the component A to the component B:1:(0.1-3) [pref. 1:(0.1-1)]. The component A is an oligopeptide mixture produced by hydrolyzing animal or vegetable protein with enzyme and having the following characteristics: (1) average molecular weight: 200-5000 (pref. 200-3000); (2) free amino acid: <=35wt.%; (3) the molar ratio (BCAA/AAA): >=7; and (4) BCAA, AAA, and methionine accounting for 15-25 (pref. 17-25)wt.%, 0.1-2.5 (pref. 0.1-2.0)wt.%, and 0.5-1.5 (pref. 0.5-1.2)wt.% of the whole amino acid composition, respectively. |
