PRODUCTION OF N-PHENYL-SUBSTITUTED NITROGEN-CONTAINING HETEROCYCLIC COMPOUND

PURPOSE:To readily and inexpensively obtain the subject compound useful as a light fading-preventing agent for organic coloring substances and as an intermediate thereof in a high yield without causing problem on the safety of works by subjecting a diol and an aniline derivative to a ring-closing reaction under an alkaline condition. CONSTITUTION:A diol of formula I (Z is a non-metal group required for forming a 5-7 membered heterocyclic group together with N when the ring is closed) and an aniline derivative of formula II (R is substituent; n is 0-5) are subjected to a ring-closing reaction under an alkaline condition, if necessary, in the presence of a catalyst to obtain the objective compound of formula III. For example, a compound of formula VI is obtained from compounds of formulas IV and V.
