1. An anode for use in obtaining metals, specifically aluminum, electrolytically from igneous bath, specifically of a fluoride-based salt, containing a metal, alloy or ceramet base, having a protective anodic active surface which, when being used, is secured by keeping in the molten salt a suitable concentration of a compound of a metal that is less precious than the metal being obtained, wherein on the metal-, alloy- or ceramet-base surface there is an electrolytically conductive oxygen-blocking layer, the layer containing chromium oxide and containing at least one of the elements of the group comprising platinum, palladium or gold, or containing platinum-zirconium alloys or nickel-aluminum alloys having been selected as the said oxygen-blocking layer, furthermore the anode having been coated with a ceramic-oxide layer between its protective coating and the oxygen-barrier layer, the said ceramic-oxide layer holding the protective coating is selected from a group of compounds comprising copper oxide in solid solution with at least one additional oxide, further comprising nickel ferrite, copper oxide and nickel ferrite, non-stoichiometrically doped or partly substituted spinels, and oxides of rare-earth metals, or oxyfluorides.
