The invention concerns a method and device for generation of longitudinal acoustic waves in liquid media by means of their conversion from acoustic waves propagating on the surface of solid body surrounding the liquid, of velocity of propagation of acoustic waves smaller than in that solid body, characterised in that acoustic wave (3, 3') propagating on the surface of solid body (4, 4'), primary, is first converted into plate wave (6) in intermediary medium (5), in which velocity of propagation of acoustic waves is smaller than velocity of wave in solid body (4, 4').<IMAGE>
