The sound-absorbent heat shield comprises a heat-insulating and sound-absorbent layer fixed to a stiff supporting layer, and with a protective coating on the side furthest from the latter. This layer comprises a continuous open-pored and heat-conductive deposit on the insulating-layer surface. The insulating layer can be a fibre cloth, partic. of polyamide fibres, while the deposit can be an alloy gelling oily dirt and moisture, and of tin, aluminium, copper and zinc, the latter forming the principal ingredient. ADVANTAGE - Proof against oil and moisture contamination.
