1,141,174. Automatic control of speed. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Aug. 8, 1966 [Nov. 9,1965], No. 35340/66. Heading G3R. [Also in Division G1] A transducer 56 of the type having primary 54 and secondary windings 58, 60 and means 62 for varying the coupling between them is energized with squarewaves of constant voltage amplitude from a source 10 of variable frequency and amplitude by supplying it from a transformer 44, the primary of which is energized from constant positive and negative voltage sources 24, 28 derived from the source 10 switched alternately by a switching device 34, 38, 40 operated by the source 10. A large capacitor 46 is said to eliminate the effect of asymmetry in the hysterises loop of the transformer 44. The invention is applied to a system for controlling the speed of a prime mover 12, in which the transducer 56 provides the desired speed signal, this signal being converted to a D.C. voltage at 70 and compared at 84 with a voltage representing actual speed, derived from a frequency to voltage converter 80 supplied from an additional winding 78 on transformer 44. None of the devices shown as "boxes" are described in detail. |
