The invention relates to a method and a device for supplying liquid to the tub along the upper edge 33 of a tub 30. The device comprises a rim 10 disposed on the upper edge of the tub and having a first material section 11 with a sealing surface 14. The material section is arranged to adopt a position in which its sealing surface bears against an opposite sealing surface 36 to form a substantially seal-tight limit of a duct 13 disposed in the longitudinal direction of the rim. The first material section consists of a resilient elastic material and is dimensioned such that, when there is excess pressure in liquid in the duct, the sealing surface is displaced from its sealing position, whereby liquid flows from the duct to the tub along the edge of the tub. The method according to the invention involves supplying liquid at elevated pressure to the duct 13, whereupon a gap is formed in the longitudinal direction of the rim between the sealing surface 14 of the first material section and a sealing surface 36 opposite the first material section.
