PURPOSE:To make adhesion easy and also obtain good detection performance by forming a heater larger than a sensor element, overlaying the sensor element on the heater airtightly and adhering an outer periphery of the sensor element with a side of the heater with heat resistant adhesive agent. CONSTITUTION:When heat is generated in a heater 12, a sensor element electrode 16 is heated to predetermined temperature. When combustion occurs in this state, exhausted gas is led into a sensor case 1 through an atmospheric gas inlet hole 5 while a gas flow where the gas in the case 1 is led outside occurs, and oxygen concentration in the gas is detected. The heater 12 is formed larger than a sensor element 15, and a side of the heater 12 and an outer periphery of the element 15 are adhered to each other with heat resistant inorganic adhesive agent 24. Therefore the adhesive 24 can be easily applied along an outer periphery of the element 15. In addition since the heater 12 is larger than the element 15, it is possible to heat the element 15 uniformly and also to increase temperature rising speed, so that detection of oxygen concentration can be started approximately simultaneously with application of voltage to the electrode 16, permitting correct detection. |
