[Also in Division C3] Iron plates are coated with an anticorrosive paint comprising a binder, at least 60% by weight of which is chlorine-containing, combined with a hydrophobic phyllosilicate in a quantity corresponding to at least 10% by volume of the silicate in the dried paint coat. Suitable silicates are talc and pyrophillite and exemplified binders are chlorinated rubber, a mixture of chlorinated rubber and polybutyl acrylate, and a vinyl chloride-vinyl isobutyl ether copolymer. The compositions may contain conventional fillers, solvents, pigments and plasticisers. The compositions may be applied by brushing or spraying. |
