<p>PURPOSE: To compress a still picture without multiplication by converting three- color information data to alternate luminance-color difference space color data and using only adders to convert alternate color space data in the vertical direction and encoding converted data after scaling. CONSTITUTION: Input sections 1 and 2 are included which convert an input to XYZ and buffer it to transfer it to a conversion unit 3. The output of conversion 1 is inputted to a shift array 4 and is held there until a block of 8×8 picture elements is completely read in. Units 5 and 6 of conversion 2 are operated for a preliminarily read-in picture element block and perform periodical operations three times in each 8-picture element time to give data to encoder input buffers 7 and 8. Encoders 9, 10, and 11 are shared among three color coordinates, and the whole of one block of luminance is encoded without interruptions, and color difference blocks are encoded one by one following this encoding.</p> |
