PURPOSE:To facilitate removal of resin flash by causing the flash to attach to a thick wall section by a method wherein, when resin is fed from a gate provided across a boundary between a recess of a mold and a side edge of an insert material, a thick wall section is provided along a side edge of said material. CONSTITUTION:A resin mold 16, for example, blocks one side of a heat sink 12 and the other side thereof is exposed to the outside and the end surface of the sink 12 is projected a little outwards from the mold 16. Since resin is fed from the end surface, when a lead frame 10 is set on the mold, flashes 24 are generated in a gap between the mold and the sink 12. Therefore, runners 18 are provided along the end surface of the sink 12 in order to arrange gates 22a, 22b and a thick wall section 26 in communication with flashes 24 is formed along the end surface of the sink 12 where flashes are generated on a surface opposite to a surface where the flashes 24 are generated. As a result, the flashes 24 generated on the end surface of the sink 12 are attached to the section 26 so that they can be separated as a whole, thereby enabling complete removal of the flashes without leaving any of them on the side of the heat sink. |
