<p>PURPOSE:To improve environment resistance characteristics through difference in densities of sintered bodies themselves by composing a sintered body of the outer layer of one denser than one with varistor characteristics. CONSTITUTION:A ceramic sintered body 11 and multiple internal electrodes 7-10 located within the ceramic sintered body by means of semiconductor ceramic layers and arranged to overlap are formed. Next, the external layer ceramic layers positioned on the outer side of the multiple internal electrodes 7-10 in the layering direction are created with ceramic particles with a small diameter than the particles in the ceramic layers which exhibit varistor characteristics sandwiched between the multiple internal electrodes 7-10 to form a denser sintered body. As a result, the varistor voltage is lowered, environment resistance characteristics improved, and the varistor can be manufactured with a relatively simple manufacturing process.</p> |
