PURPOSE:To enable a boundary to be identified with a high resolution and positioning accuracy to be improved by identifying a region corresponding to a digital output average value of an image element due to a reflection light strength from a boundary where light and shade are unclear from a boundary of light and shade. CONSTITUTION:When a projection light is moved from a point A of a region 2b where a reflection light strength of one image element is small to a region 2a where the reflection light strength is large, an output voltage of the image element at that time shows a straight line at a center corresponding to light and shade of each region and a gradual curve near the points A and B. An analog output voltage shown by this curve is A/D converted and a region position corresponding to each pulse voltage is memorized. Then, the A/D converted output values are averaged for obtaining an average output voltage value of pulse height and a region which generates a pulse voltage with a height closest to it is memorized as a boundary point C. This memorized region is commanded to a machining tool or to a positioning mechanism for enabling a work to be machine. |
