An anisotropic rare-earth permanent magnet is mfd. by melting the permanent magnet alloy of Fe(a)CO(b)Nd(c)R(d)N(e)B(f) [where N is one element of Al, Si, Ge, Nb or Ga, R is one element of Pr, La, Y, Ce, Dy, Gd or Tb, (a) is 60-80 atom.%, (b) is 0-20, (c) is 10-20, (d) is 0-10, (e) is 0-5, (f) is 0-30, and (a)+(b) +(c)+(d)+(e)+(f) is 100 , cooling at the ratio of 105-107 deg.C/sec to make the powder of amorphous short fiber or ribbon shape, cold- moulding with the powder, heat-treating at 800-1000 deg.C under the vaccum, extruding at 4:1-20:1 extrusion ratio, and aging at 650- 750 deg.C. The alloy contains 0.5-3 wt.% one or more of ZrB2, TaB2, TiB and VB2.
