PURPOSE:To efficiently perform machining such as cutting and welding on a thick plate and to obtain the finish surface of good quality by irradiating a steel plate with a laser beam of multi-mode from a torch. CONSTITUTION:In the case of cutting material 7 to be machined, figure information to be cut, thickness information of the material 7 to be machined, focal distance information of a lens 8a, etc., are first inputted to a numerical controller and the torch 8 is moved to the specified position of the material 7 to be machined. The laser beam of multi-mode is emitted from a laser beam oscillator 9 at that position and simultaneously, oxygen gas is injected as assistant gas to start cutting. Afterward, a frame 4 and a carriage 5 are moved in the X and Y directions according to inputted information, by which a specified figure can be cut. |
