<p>PURPOSE:To eliminate block distortion while controlling the out-of-focus of an edge by accurately deciding the edge of a boundary part with the use of four samples near the block boundary and controlling the smoothing processing. CONSTITUTION:In a block boundary part separation circuit 33, when two samples a1 and b1 adjacent each other between the boundary of a block and signals adjacent to these samples and corresponding to two samples a2 and b2 on the identical line are inputted, these samples are separated from one screen and supplied to a block distortion detection circuit 34, a smoothing circuit 35, and a switch 36. In the block distortion deletion circuit 34 whether or not the block distortion is generated at the object picture element part for the smoothing processing or at the edge part is decided. A signal is supplied to the control terminal of a switch 36 controlling the smoothing processing not to be performed when the block distortion is not generated or when the block distortion is generated in the edge part and controlling the processing to be performed when the block distortion is generated and it is generated in other than the edge part as the result of the decision.</p> |
