PURPOSE:To allow only the light past respectively opposite filter parts to enter respective picture elements so as to prevent the degradation of color purity by providing an aperture plate having aperture parts of a specified hole length or above respectively in the opposite positions of the respective picture elements on the light source side of a liquid crystal panel. CONSTITUTION:The aperture plate 4 which is disposed on the light source 1 side of the liquid crystal panel 3, has the aperture parts 4a respectively in the opposite positions of the respective picture elements 3R, 3G, 3B of the liquid crystal panel 3, and is set with the hole length of the respective aperture parts 4a at the size to prohibit the incidence of the light past the aperture parts 4a on the picture elements near the liquid crystal panel 3 is provided. Then, the inclined light of the light from the light source 1 cannot pass the apertures 4a of the aperture plate 4 and only the collimated beams of light pass the respective aperture parts 4a of the aperture plate 4 and, therefore, the light transmitted through the filter parts 5a of the color filters 5 is made incident only on the respective picture elements 3R, 3G, 3b of the liquid crystal panel 3 corresponding thereto. The degradation in the color purity is prevented in this way. |
