A device for mounting a lamp stand comprises a prewired column assembly directly fitted onto a base provided for this purpose. The column is a hollow, transparent element (6) containing means for supporting decorative elements (7-8); a ring (12) secures the column to the base, the inner diameter of said ring (12) providing a passage for an electrical wire fitted with a plug (27) and switch (26). According to the invention, the device and its variants are particularly suited to the manufacture of all kinds of light source bases.
