To apply a security strip to paper such as threads with symbols, or optically active holograms, etc., the security strip is a continuous ribbon wound on a bobbin with the right side up. The ribbon is fed mechanically to the fourdrinier of a papermaking machine so that the ribbon cannot twist under normal conditions.
