Multipurpose electromotor-gearbox unit - uses epicyclic gears with outer gear driven by worm gear slidable on motor shaft

Within the casing (3) lies the electric motor (1) with a worm gear (16). This drives the annulus (5) of an epicyclic gear train, with planet wheels (7), carrier (6) and sun gear (9). The carrier is connected to the central shaft (4) which fits into the lower wall of the casing. Protruding from the upper wall of the casing is the sun gear wth a crank (18). A fork-shaped brake (13) surrounds the shaft of the sun gear and is suppoted within the casing by pivot (12). The brake arms (14) encompass the driving worm (16) and carry return springs (17). The driving worm gear is keyed to the shaft (15) so that it can slide with the brake arms. ADVANTAGE - Easy manual speed control and setting up for purpose intended.
