Rapid heater for liquids and polymer melts - has large number of tubes or heating elements with enlarged cross=section before exit

Device has one or more exit pipes preceded by a pipe of much larger cross section which contains heat diffusion paths appropriate to short heating times. The heating arrangements are pref. longitudinal heating wires spaced at the appropriate distance. Alternatively they can consist of a large number of smaller pipes in parallel which incorporate heating elements. Pref., polymer melt at 130 deg.C. is fed to about 1000 tubes, each about 1mm dia. and 10cm long. The tubes can be formed of a solid heated copper block or heating wires can be embedded in a bundle of separate tubes which are joined together. The polyemr temp. is raised to 200 deg.C. with a residence time of less than 4 secs. and is at a suitable viscosity to be fed to a sprayer. USE/ADVANTAGE - Polymer melts may be heated rapidly without hardening to achieve the temp. and viscosity needed for ultrasonic atomisation
