Appts. for automatic testing by area of filter panel ceilings in clean rooms equipped with large filtration surface particulate filters, particularly on an incident of increased particle permeability, has a mobile trolley, a measurement station slide movable in two directions at right angles, a height adjustable sampling unit mounted on the slide and connected to a series of parallel, adjacent, upwards opening suction collector pipes, a corresponding number of particle counters each connectable with the suction collector pipes via a tube, a vacuum pump providing suction to the collector pipes, a data processor for evaluation of the particle counts provided by the sampling unit, which is improved in that the suction collector pipes are, at least in the vicinity of the collection mouths, of rectangular cross section and arranged perpendicular to the test sweep direction, and the sample collector unit is rotatable through 90 deg. in a horizontal plane. USE/ADVANTAGE - Mobile, in-situ testing for checking the integrity of clean room filter panelled ceilings, allowing orthogonal sampling/testing to be made in a single traverse of the clean room panels.
