Optical colour printing head - uses rows of light gates and converter increasing width of light passing through each gate

The optical colour printing head has an electro-optical substrate with an electrode structure providing several parallel light gate rows, transverse to the direction of movement of the recording material (9). The spacing between the light gates (5) is greater than the width of the light gates (5), each light gate row associated with a respective colour filter for a defined basic colour. The cross-sectional area of the light (7a) passing through each light gate (5) is increased in a direction transverse to the movement of the recording material (9), to match the spacing width of the light gates (5) via a one-dimensional cross-section converter (8). USE/ADVANTAGE - Provides colour printing of entire surface of recording medium.
