NEW MATERIAL:An organic peroxide expressed by formula I (R is H or 1-3C alkyl). EXAMPLE:alpha,alpha-Dimethylbenzyl-1-methyl-1-cyclohexylethyl peroxide. USE:A crosslinking agent of polyolefins and a degrading agent of polyolefins. The organic peroxide has excellent handling properties, because it is liquid at ambient temperature and can provide a crosslinked product or degraded product free from odor when the polyolefin is crosslinked or degraded. PREPARATION:For example, a tert. alcohol expressed by formula II is reacted with 1-methyl-1-cyclohexyl hydroperoxide in the presence of an acid catalyst to provide the compound expressed by formula I. |
