The invention relates to diaphragms for the separation of gas mixtures and a process for producing them, whereby the diaphragms comprise a rigid-chained polymer with mobile side chains and a gas-permeable substrate. The selective separation of gas mixtures by means of the diaphragms of the invention is based especially on a synergistic effect which, according to the invention, is produced by the co-operation of the modified rigid-chained polymer and the gas-permeable substrate.
