Prodn. comprises passing a rod through a highly compressible material, whose cross-section corresponding to the inner cross-section of the ring member. The blank formed is highly compressed and the rod is removed. A ring section is sepd. from the highly compressed blank and its axial length is the same as the length of the ring member to be formed.
