A locking mechanism for a baking oven door, to prevent opening during high temp., and/or microwave operation, has a pawl which cooperates with a door catch, the pawl, a leaf spring, a trip cam, an actuator pair and a micro-switch are arranged on a plastic mount as locking elements and when activated by a door close signal, the actuator shifts the pawl into the locking end position.
