Temp. of molten metal or glass, esp. molten Al, is measured by a device (R) comprising cylidnrical sheath (1) with concave base (3) and open top (2), on which is seated a holder (6) with a lower cylindrical section (7) and an upper constricted section (8). The upper section has a cylindrical insert (14) with a central bore (16) in which the upper end of the sheath support (17) is held. The rod-shaped support is springy and is attached to the concave base with adhesive (20) at its curved foot section (18). The support can be coiled in spring form.
