A device for dispensing liquid drops, such as drops of medicine, in a controlled fashion while protecting the rest of the liquid from inadvertent contamination is provided by an elastically deformable container with a composite membrane (4) across a passageway between the body of the container and a delivery orifice. The composite membrane (4) has one component (5) that is liquophilic and one (6) that is liquophobic, both components having pore sizes to resist the passage of contaminant.
