PURPOSE:To obtain an information recording carrier which can accurately record and/or reproduce information by providing an information region for detecting malfunction of a probe shape except a region to be recorded and/or reproduced with information. CONSTITUTION:Tracking bits for obtaining a signal for controlling the position of a probe on a medium and data bits written with recording information are disposed in divided spaces. That is, recording bits 4 have the tracking bits 4a - 4f and data bits 4a', 4b',.... The bits 4a - 4f have bits for generating a tracking signal for disposing the probe along a track, a distance control signal for regulating a distance between the probe and a recording medium and an error signal for detecting change of the probe. Thus, an information recording carrier which can record and/or reproduce accurate information, is obtained.
