Car body post - has internal lengthwise channels accommodating nuts for hinge bolts and spaced apart

The door-post for a car body comprises a roughly upright hollow profiled beam and to which hinge brackets are screwed at intervals in the lengthwise direction. The beam (1) is of extruded aluminium alloy, with two or more lengthwise cage-type channels (20,21) on the inside of an external wall (2) and spaced apart in the transverse direction. The accommodate the nuts (26 - 29) for the hinge bolts (13 - 16). At the level of the hinge brackets (5, 6) holes (3,4) in the outer wall lead to the channels. Each bracket has a baseplate (7, 8) with holes (9 - 12) at the same centre distance as the channels in the transverse direction. ADVANTAGE - Easy and low-cost fitting and adjustment of door.
