摘要

Insoluble proteins (I) are purified from microorganisms by (1) killing the cells by exposure to toluene and/or xylene; (2) lysing the cells and then (3) recovering (I). The cells are pref. E.coli and are killed with toluene. Also claimed is a method for oxidising insol. forms of somatotropin (Ia), obtd. from transformed microorganisms, to give the native form having disulphide bridges by oxidn. in the presence of Na dodecyl sulphate (SDS) or of a detergent of formula (A) (where R1=Me or Et; R2=H or 1-3C alkyl; n=8-20).
