PURPOSE:To realize a gradation display at every lighting cells by alternately setting a period that a voltage applied to a scanning electrode in a holding period and the period that the voltage applied to a data side electrode and stopping the voltage applied on a data side electrode according to the brightness selection of data. CONSTITUTION:Pulse-like voltages applied on a data electrode at the time of lighting are 1-B, 1-C, and 1-D, and synthetic voltage waveforms with a pulse- like voltage 1-A applied on the scanning electrode are 1-F, 1-G, and 1-H. On the other hand, a pulse-like voltage applied on the data electrode at the time of putting-off, is 1-E, and the synthetic waveform with 1-A is 1-I. Brightness at the time of the lighting can be switched in three steps, by operating the pulse-like voltages applied on the data electrode and stopping discharging in the middle of the holding period. |
