The motor vehicle, particularly a private car, has a profiled extruded component forming a central column joined to a roof beam and to a lengthwise one at the bottom. It is formed by first and second extrusions (7,9) one behind the other in the vehicle lengthwise direction. They include an acute angle (a), so that the column (1) tapers towards the top. The first one (7) is cut away for this angle for the greater part of its length, and bears via the surface so formed (13) against the second, the two being joined together along it. ADVANTAGE - Improved load transmission to lengthwise beam and increased rigidity under side impact. |
