Clarification of sludge for constructing road noise barriers - by incorporating among plastic profiles pref. contg. barrier layer and drain

Environment-friendly utilisation of clarification sludge involves incorporating the sludge in, under and between plastics profiles. Pref. the profiles are produced from low grade, pref. unsorted plastics waste esp. by extrusion to hollow profiles. The profiles are pref. erected on foundations, esp. including a barrier layer and drain. The sludge is pref. dried in-situ and any shrinkage is compensated by topping up. Plant troughs of plastics are used to provide a rain cover and are planted with trailing plants. USE/ADVANTAGE - The process may be used in construction of noise barrier walls. The sludge is disposed of inexpensively without the need for predrying and is sealed against weather and groundwater. The profiles have long life, are inexpensive to mfr. and are provided with a requisite weight and wind stability by the sludge.
