Solid fire-retardant agglomerates with mean particle size 0.1-5 mm. (I) are claimed, for the fire retardant treatment of thermoplastics, (I) consist of prim. particles of fire retardants with mean size 0.1-10 microns (II) and opt. thermoplastics and normal additives, and the agglomerate dissociates into the prim. particles again when it is incorporated into the molten liq. thermoplastic. Pref. mean particle sizes are 0.1-2 mm. (I) and 0.1-5 microns (II). (I) contains 5-30 wt.% thermoplastic (III) and pref. also 0.1-10 wt.% dispersant (IV). (II) are N-contg. fire retardants with m.pt. above the temp. at which they are incorporated into the melt. Pref. (III) is of the same type as the thermoplastic to be treated e.g. PE, PP, EP copolymer, polyamide, polystyrene, ABS, SAN, polysulphone, PEEK, thermoplastic polyimide etc. (II) is e.g. melamine cyanurate or phosphate, guanidine cyanurate or phosphate, urea cyanurate, melamine and/or cyanuric acid and (IV) is e.g. a naphthenate, stearate, palmitate, oleate or oleic acid etc. USE/ADVANTAGE - Provides solid fire retardants with the advantages of fine powders but without the disadvantages associated with their storage, handling and incorporation. The claims include a process for the fire retardant treatment of thermoplastics, by incorporating (I) into the thermoplastic mel
